Counselling Approach

  • Adlerian Therapy

Adlerian Counselling is highly encouragement-based, collaborative, and community-oriented. It creates a safe environment for clients to begin seeing alternatives and build upon their capacity to create meaning and connections in their lives. Adlerian therapists work especially with those who are most in need of positive, future-oriented counseling and encouragement. In some cases, Adlerian therapists will explore one’s birth order and how one’s role within the family affects the development of their personality and future relationships.

  • Trauma-Informed Therapy

Trauma-informed therapists work to establish a sense of safety and trust before diving deep into your trauma history. They start by developing a strong collaborative and supportive relationship and will work to empower clients by honoring their voice and their choice of what they want and need from their therapy. Compassion and respect are the foundation of trauma-informed care.

  • Expressive Art Therapy

In the counselling space, we can do more than just talk. We believe creativity is a way for us as human beings to get to know ourselves more. Expressive arts include writing, painting, drawing, and exploring creative parts of your life that you would like to bring into the counselling space. This could include books, movies, photos, and journal entries.

  • Narrative Therapy

Narrative therapy includes understanding one’s own story and how emotions, actions, and problems fit into the context of that story. We may explore events and discuss aspects of your life stories, learning to recognize alternative and dominant narratives within your life, and actively work toward change.

  • Body-Centred Therapy

We will begin to integrate your physical body into the therapy process. We will respect and recognize the intimate relationship between the human body and the psychological well-being of a person.

  • Group Workshops

We will be offering virtual group expressive arts workshops in the future. Please contact me if you have any inquiries or questions about group work.
